Anytown Alabama Delegate Applications
What is Anytown?
Anytown Alabama is a week-long residential social justice leadership program for high school students. Anytown 2021 will be a 4-day hybrid summit located in Birmingham, Alabama. It will consist of 2 days virtual and 2 days in-person with all COVID-19 safety protocols. At Anytown Alabama, student delegates engage in typical summer camp activities and also develop leadership skills that they take back to their schools and communities. Student delegates spend a week participating in refreshingly open and supportive dialogue, forming life-long friendships, and sharing their cultures and beliefs while appreciating those of others. Students engage in intensive and interactive learning about social justice issues and leave Anytown empowered as leaders. Anytown is a fantastic opportunity for students who are currently in 9th – 11th grades to spend a week developing leadership skills and learning about social justice issues. Students make great friends, build their college resumes, and have a ton of fun!
Anytown Alabama Teen Leadership Summit is traditionally an incredibly immersive experience involving activities that require participants to interact in close proximity. We will not be able to conduct Anytown 2021 as a weeklong, fully-residential summit due to circumstances beyond our control. The safety of all of our participants is of the utmost importance. In preparing for all likelihoods, plans for a hybrid and the possibility of a complete remote camp are also underway. Anytown co-directors will follow CDC guidelines and restrictions to make contingency plans as necessary.
June 9th - June 12th 2021
Since Anytown 2021 will not held in-person, participants still in high school will have the option of reapplying to the next in-person summit and/or participating in the virtual or hybrid options we will have during the same time.
